Soupologie is the UK’s only superfood, vegan and free-from soup collection, boasting over 20 varieties of gluten-free, lactose-free, no-added-sugar plant-based soups.
From the three ranges of fresh soup currently available (600g standard tubs, soup-to-go and raw soup) we tried four flavours: Beetroot & Pomegranate, Spinach & Kale with Garlic, Cauliflower & Kale and Curried Sweet Potato.
What’s immediately noticeable is the colour. Each soup is wonderfully vibrant and bursting with bold, natural flavour. They’re also surprisingly creamy, with a thick, velvety consistency that’s deliciously rich and imperceptibly dairy-free .
Soup wouldn’t be our first choice for lunch on the move, but Soupologie’s six-strong range of soup-to-go comes in handy and readily transportable 400g pots, with separate toppings for added crunch and nutritional punch. It’s a welcome change to the standard lunch menu of salad/sandwich/sushi, and the fact it can be eaten cold makes it just as practical while brimming with fresh ingredients. Go green for full-on feel-good flavour, and while the Beetroot & Pomegranate was slightly too sweet for our taste-buds, there’s no denying the combination of juicy British beets and zingy pomegranates makes for a powerful source of folate and antioxidants to keep you fully energised.
Soup is always surprisingly filling, and the bigger 600g pots will easily serve two. Available in a range of flavours from Adzuki Bean and Spirulina Greens to Three Mushroom Broth and Pea & Leek, we tried the Curried Sweet Potato with Coconut & Raw Cacao (also available in the soup-to-go). Combining creamy coconut, darkly rich cacao and a healthy hit of turmeric and ginger, it sounds too sweet – but it’s not. The curried spice blend adds warmth without heat, while parsnips, carrots and coconut cream create an entirely natural, subtle sweetness and smooth, satisfying texture.
All in all, it’s hard not to be impressed by a range of soups that prioritises health as much as taste – and these really do taste good.
